Dogs possibly stolen in Adams County now up for adoption

Sheriffa s Office will continue providing police protection in Manchester

The Manchester Village Council, on Monday, Feb. 5, voted to accept a contract with the Adams County Sheriff's Office to police the municipality while the village continues to climb out of a fiscal emergency more than 20 years in the making. The Sheriff's Office has provided police protection in the village since last year when the council voted to disband the police department on the recommendation of the Ohio State Auditor's Office.

February 8, 2018 ] Jury begins deliberation in Tumey trial News

The eight-man, four-woman jury seated in the trial of an Adams County man charged with kidnapping and assault began deliberation Thursday afternoon following closing arguments by the defense and prosecution teams in Adams County Common Pleas Court, with Judge Brett Spencer presiding. Charles Rubin Tumey was charged with two counts of kidnapping and four counts of felonious assault after he allegedly forcibly restrained and beat his live-in girlfriend, Donna Baker, 51 of Peebles, holding her captive at their residence near Peebles from Oct. 9 to Oct. 12, 2016.

Georgia Woolard: A voice for the people

Residents across Adams County, in early January, mourned the loss of one of Adams County's most iconic and well-known citizens, Georgia Woolard. A longtime columnist for, and owner of the Manchester Signal, Woolard passed away Jan. 11 at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Mayville, Ky.
