Unique Barn Quilt Trail celebrates Ottawa County art, agriculture

The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council and Ottawa County 4-H will celebrate the second colorful quilt installation on The Ottawa County Barn Quilt Trail. Making its debut on Saturday, April 21 at noon is a quilt featured on the barn of Alan and Kim Diefenthaler, 7177 N Ellison Trowbridge Rd., Martin, Ohio.

Mushroom club meets

The April meeting of the Adams County Wild Mushroom Club was attended by six regular members, two new members and one guest. The two new members shared information regarding Cummins Nature Preserve in Maysville, Ky., and free upcoming educational programs at the center.

He was convicted 3 times for a police informant’s murder, but a federal judge has set him free

Federal authorities charged and convicted Willie Tyler after an Adams County jury acquitted him of murdering a police informant in 1993. A federal judge has now freed Tyler, ruling the feds had no grounds to charge him for the murder of Darlene Proctor of Carlisle.

Let’s look for mushrooms

The March meeting of the Adams County Wild Mushroom Club was well attended with 16 people that included four new members and one guest. Due to some warm and wet days in February, members reported finding several different mushrooms, including some that are edible such as oyster , wood ears and puffballs, although none were eaten because they are out of season.

Dogs possibly stolen in Adams County now up for adoption

Authorities couldn't find the owners of all 17 dogs taken from a mobile home in Peebles, according to the Adams County dog warden. Now, officials are trying to find good homes for the pups.

Sheriffa s Office will continue providing police protection in Manchester

The Manchester Village Council, on Monday, Feb. 5, voted to accept a contract with the Adams County Sheriff's Office to police the municipality while the village continues to climb out of a fiscal emergency more than 20 years in the making. The Sheriff's Office has provided police protection in the village since last year when the council voted to disband the police department on the recommendation of the Ohio State Auditor's Office.
