Memorial Day services set for county

Memorial Day ceremonies will be held this weekend across Adams County to honor our nation's military heroes, past and present, who have served in America's armed forces and given their lives for their country. The Young-Moore Post of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Walter Harris, Jr. Post 3400 of West Union will host Memorial Day services on Sunday, May 28 at the Kirker Cemetery at 1 p.m.; West Union Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.; and East Liberty at 2:30 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary and the Wallingford-Thompson Post 594 in Peebles will hold services Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Locust Grove Cemetery on St. Rte.


1 dead, 1 seriously hurt in ATV crash

The Adams County Coroner and rescue crews were called to 2400 block of Island Creek Road near Manchester just after 3 a.m. Friday, they said.

Rhoden family member charged with destroying evidence in massacre investigation

In the first major development in the year-long murder mystery of the Rhoden family, authorities have charged a family member with tampering with evidence, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced Tuesday afternoon. Brother of one of the victims, James Manley, 40, of Pike County has been charged with destroying a GPS device that was part of the investigation into the murders of the eight members of the Rhoden family last spring.


Ohio intensifies search in 2016 family slayings

Authorities recently intensified their search for evidence in the execution-style slayings of eight family members in their homes near Piketon last year. Authorities are trying to uncover information about the seven adults and teenage boy from the Rhoden family who were found shot to death April 22, 2016.

Rick Arnold age 69 years of Manchester, Ohio passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. Mr. Arnold was born on February 28, 1948 the son of the late Roy Lee and Mary Ruth Arnold in Adams County, Ohio.


Car strikes Amish buggy near Winchester

According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened near Winchester on Wednesday afternoon, May 10, on State Route 136 north of the village. Authorities say three teens were injured when a car crashed into the rear of the buggy while it was traveling southbound on the two-lane highway.


Farming out life lessons to children and parents

Three-year old Keegan Dryden of West Union was all smiles when he got his chance to handle the “big” machinery at Kindergarten Ag Day Hundreds of children and their families descended on the Adams County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, May 2 for the annual Kindergarten Ag Day, sponsored by the Career and Technical Center's FFA chapter. Kindergarten, Pre-School, and Head Start students from across the county schools participated in the event.

Animal Shelter Adoption Center announces new hours of operation

To better serve the needs of the community, the Humane Society of Adams County's Animal Adoption Center will move to new hours of operation effective Monday, May 1, 2017. The Adoption Center will be open from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday to accommodate the increased visitation experienced on those days.
