Artectis hosts grand opening

Local officials were among the nearly 100 people on hand on Saturday, March 24 for the grand opening of a new high-tech business in Manchester. The Adams County Board of Commissioners expressed their support for the new company created by local entrepreneurs C.L. “Skip”Wagner and Zane Mingee.

4-Ha Sawards 11 local scholarships

Eleven youth have been named as recipients of scholarships through the annual Adams County 4-H Scholarship Program. They were selected for the scholarships by a subcommittee of the Adams County 4-H Advisory Committee as a result of interviews conducted on March 9. Scholarship criteria include an application and interview.

CTC students help with storm clean-up

Students from the Farm Business, Ag Mechanics and Carpentry programs at the Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center recently partnered to help a local farmer clean up damage caused by the destructive March 1 storm that swept through Adams County. Students arrived Monday, Mar. 6 at the Louiso farm on Unity Road near West Union where straight line winds had destroyed a large barn and created an extensive debris field.

Southern Hills Athletic Conference names 2016-17 All-Conference Basketball Teams

By a recent vote of the conference head coaches, the Southern Hills Athletic Conference has named its 2016-17 Girls and Boys All-Conference Teams. The four Adams County schools were again well represented, with four players being honored on the girls squad and six on the boys.

Winchester Police Department continues assault on drug traffic

With the arrest of four suspects last week, Chief David Benjamin and his force at the Winchester Police Department continued their efforts at fighting the drug traficking in Adams County. On Tuesday, March 7, Lieutentat Rich Shofstall was called to investigate a suspicious male who had dropped a package that appeared to be crystal meth inside the Winchester 1st Stop.

Sheriff Rogers to set up outpost in Manchester

The Manchester Village Council's decision to disband the town's police force drew sharp criticism from concerned residents during Monday's village council meeting, prompting Mayor Robert Hilderbrand to -declare “It's going to be the Wild West around here if we don't have a police force”. According to Councilman C.L.”Skip” Wagner the citizens' concerns were alleviated Tuesday as Adams County Sheriff's deputies made it clear they would be stepping in as a law-enforcement presence in the town.
