An unwelcome visitor in the county

While mowing around the pond on his property, Dailey saw an unusual set of eyes staring back at him and realized, “Hey, there's a gator in the pond.” The elder Dailey called his son Nathan, one of the owners of Dailey's Outfitters in Peebles, and told him to come on over, after convincing his son that he really hadn't lost his mind.

Eleven Local Youth qualify for Ohio State Fair Junior Horse Show

Eleven local 4-H members have qualified to represent Adams County in two or more classes at the annual Ohio State Fair Junior Horse Show. The show takes place on the State Fairgrounds in Columbus from Tuesday, July 26 through Friday, July 29. Adams County qualifiers and their classes include: Baylie Clough, Peebles, daughter of Alan and Mindy Clough and member of the Lawshe Shadow Riders 4-H Club – Easy Gaited Showmanship, Easy Gaited Equitation, English, and Easy Gaited Pleasure, English.

Pearline A. Williams, age 76 years of Peebles passed away Tuesday July 26, 2016 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center. Mrs. Williams was born April 26, 1940, the daughter of the late John Raymond “Ray” and Nora Burns in Adams County.

Caped Crusader brings message of hope to local children

An enraptured audience of youngsters listens intently to the message of the Caped Crusader during his stop at the Peebles Library on July 6. Several hundred children across Adams County gathered at their local libraries on July 6 for a visit with the comic book icon, Batman, from “Heroes for Higher.” Hosted by the Adams County Library, the “Heroes for Higher” program is designed to inspire children to make positive life choices.
